Open Top Container

Open top shipping containers for sale — featuring a removable roof panel or convertible tarpaulin top for overhead crane loading. Open top containers are the go-to solution for transporting and storing oversized cargo that cannot fit through standard container doors, including machinery, timber, pipes, steel coils, marble slabs, and large industrial equipment. The open roof design also makes these containers ideal for waste collection, recycling operations, and creative architectural projects. Available in 20ft and 40ft sizes with swing-out header beams and heavy-duty tarp covers.

What we stock

This page covers 10ft, 20ft and 40ft units, with new and used grades listed side by side. Every listing shows its own specification, condition and delivered availability, so you can compare like for like before you request a quote.

Choosing the right open-top container

Open-top containers load from above with a crane, which is what makes them work for cargo taller than the door opening or too heavy to forklift in. The roof is a removable tarpaulin over bows rather than steel, so check the tarpaulin and bow condition and plan for overhead crane access at both ends of the journey.
