The 45ft High Cube adds 1 524 mm of length to a 40ft High Cube, taking internal volume to about 86 m³. In Europe it is a familiar sight in intermodal and short-sea traffic, where the extra length matches pallet-wide loading patterns.
Two constraints keep it a specialist purchase. Deep-sea carrier acceptance is narrower than for 40ft equipment, and road movement is governed by national vehicle-length rules that differ across Europe, so the delivery leg needs checking before an order is placed rather than after.

Handling and corner castings
Most 45ft containers carry corner castings in the 45ft corner positions and an additional set at the 40ft positions, so that standard 40ft spreaders, chassis and stacking equipment can still handle them. Where the intermediate castings are absent, handling options narrow considerably. Confirm this on the unit before buying if it will be lifted by a 40ft spreader.
Road transport in Europe
A 45ft container on a trailer exceeds the length envelope that a 40ft unit sits comfortably within. Several European countries permit the combination under defined conditions, others restrict it, and rules for the last kilometre to a private address are stricter than those for port-to-terminal running.
We check the route as part of the quotation. Where a 45ft delivery is not practical, a 40ft High Cube is the straightforward substitute.
Why conversion buyers want them
86 m³ in a single unit, and 13.5 m of clear internal length, allows a layout that would otherwise need two containers and a joining detail — accommodation with a separate room, a workshop with a discrete office, or a clinic with a waiting area. If the unit will be craned into a final position and stay there, the road-length question applies only once.
